Pros: Price, unlimited everything, and you don't have to worry about whether it's a weekend or after 7pm. I will never, ever, count minutes or messages. Cons: Doesn't cover a lot of area, yet. Not a big selection of phones yet either. Also, don't expect to speak to a person for at leat 10 minutes from the time you pick up a phone when calling for support. Summary: But, you can have just about any phone you want flashed over to work with Cricket and they are expanding their calling area every month. So if you don't have it now you may real soon. Overall, I'm never shocked by a phone bill because it's always $52. a month (including tax). 14 out of 28 people found this review helpful Pros: Cheap Unlimited service (if you can ever get it) Cons: Horrible customer service, depressing stores with hour long lines, incompetent employees, rate plans increase in price Summary: I would really like to be able to say something good for Cricket. Unlimited minutes would be revolutionary. Unfortunately, it's not here yet. Cricket is one of the most mismanaged companies I have ever seen. From never being able to reach corporate stores directly to having to dial individual departments, wrong numbers, incredibly long lines, poor customer service... Cricket starts to make you feel like you live in a communist country. I wish the best for Cricket, but they have their work cut out. The only good news is that I've heard the phone signal is fine as long as you never have to deal with them again. 18 out of 33 people found this review helpful Pros: Good Coverage and text Cons: Limited Range with-out roaming, comprable services are getting cheaper with contract Phone Companies. Summary: My wife and I have had Cricket for several years and while I have a Basic phone it is still is working fine. While not great they will give a discount on a new phone. I went into check the other day and even though I did not do it then the put on my account to discount me $75.00 towards the purchase of a new phone. The local Customer care was very helpfull and pleasant to deal with. 23 out of 38 people found this review helpful Pros: Ulimited mins, text & pic messages for $3.00 more Unlimited 411 Cons: Customer care needs improves and credit & debt card payments needs work Summary: Charges: $15.00 dollars to add or change serivces to your account, but you are allowed one phone number change for free. Customer care: Need improve less foreigners for reps can't understand what they are saying and they can't understand me it's hard to get what i need. More english reps please. Plans: Are excellent. Call quality: Is very good,a few drop calls mostly when im in this one spot in my house. The feature i love most is when calling 411 i have an option to get a text with the info... 17 out of 35 people found this review helpful Pros: Unlimited minutes, predictable bill, coverage in all markets, available pre-paid roaming. Cons: Limited web, unpredictable texts. Roaming coverage is not solid. Summary: I bought my first cricket phone in 2002. It was a Nokia and it was wonderful. Nothing special to it, but it survived everything and the service was great. Plus, it was free! I decided to upgrade to a Motorola a year and a half later. The charging system went, and despite the fact that I had insurance, my phone wasn't covered. I had to buy a new phone (Kyocera Energi) and I didn't even get a discount. I'd been with them for 3 years! I switched to Sprint because I moved away from a Cricket service area, and hated it, and since I've moved back I just got back with Cricket. I'm disappointed to find that they no longer have considerable phone discounts, unless you buy online. You really get what you pay for with the cheaper phones, and the more expensive ones lack some of the things that come with them if you went with another provider. (ie. Moto SLVR does not include data cable or memory card). The phone works well though, and I'll be purchasing the cable and card shortly. The service in my area is very good, except for about 3 spots in my house. I learned a while ago to avoid them. The roaming coverage works, but not as well as I had thought it would. I went to Charleston, WV this weekend and didn't have all bars at all. Text messages will say they haven't been sent when they have, causing the recipient to recieve multiples of them. I was under the impression that the Mobile Web service would allow access to the internet. While it does allow me to check my Yahoo mail, it does not access ANY url, only the ones pre programmed. So far, the employees at my local cricket store have been very helpful. The ones at the local mall though are an entirely different story. I was standing behind a couple for nearly 15 minutes before the other sales person even took notice of me. They didn't get the sale. All in all, its a good service. I like it. I came back to it even. The phones are good from about the mid range up. I would only purchase the roaming if I thought I was really going to need it, otherwise, use a pay phone or something. Its not worth it. Thanks for reading :) 42 out of 69 people found this review helpful Pros: Network Service is good in my area, and it's very affordable. Cons: Phones do seem to be low quality, and are overpriced. Many phones will not charge their batteries while in use, nor can they be powered by the adapter!!! No rewards for being a loyal customer. They only like new ones. Summary: The service in my area is WAY better than Cingular (Not surprising, I know. Cingular stinks!). Dropped calls are virtually non-exsistant. Phones are kind of junky, and many cannot be powered, nor will they recharge while a call is progress. The battery life on the cheaper phones is truly pathetic, and the phone will actually die, and power off while the charger is connected! I can't stress this enough, the charger will not power the phone, or charge the battery while it is in use (in a call), you have to hang up for the charging to resume! Plugging in the charger to keep talking does not work! If the phone is charging, and you answer a call, the charging will be suspended and the phone will start dying, until you hang up. I just bought a new Slider Remix, the salesman told me that it would charge while in use, but guess what, it won't! I believe this is by design to prevent people from using those unlimmited minutes. Truth is, many of these phones do in fact limit your minutes through crappy battery life, and charging circuits that are disabled while the phone is in use. My phones are constantly going dead! (I did own a Motorola model a while back that did NOT have this problem, but the charging jack broke!) 43 out of 72 people found this review helpful Pros: Unlimited calling, text messaging. Cons: Does not let all your text messages go through, Cricket sells stripped down - second quality phones. Summary: Text messaging: Though Cricket touts unlimited text messaging, they do not let all go through and you will get this reject message - "Cricket is not participating in this event at this time." What? Thought it was UNLIMITED text messaging, and they're censoring? Phones: I cannot express enough the poor quality of their phones! I have now been through 4 phones in the last 2 years. Right now I have a Kyocera Slider Remix that the ear speaker went out of. I called the repair shop and was told that Cricket has stopped carrying these phones because there's an inherent problem with the main board, so a speaker or cable replacement won't fix it. I am stuck using speakerphone, which cuts out about every other word. Cricket subscribers pay premium price for these crappy phones. Local Service: Boise store personnel absolutely stinks. One woman that's been there for the last couple years is arrogant and rude. There is a constant air of unprofessionalism and the wait is horrendous. Why? Because there are so many phone problems. Reception: Nampa reception is spotty, even 2 miles off the freeway at Garrity. Customer Value: There are absolutely no rewards for continuing to be a Cricket customer. You'd think they would discount phone prices considerably for customer loyalty, especially since other companies are giving these same phones away for free. The only thing that saves this company is their "unlimited calling". I hope another company breaks into their market soon... I will gladly switch. Summary: If you are one that can manage your minutes, you will be much better off going with another carrier and being locked into a 2 year agreement. You will have a free phone, better customer service and be able to get a new phone each year. 25 out of 59 people found this review helpful Pros: Affordable service Cons: Rude to non-existent customer service Summary: I have been a loyal and good customer of Cricket for many years. Their service is affordable, but beware of mailing payments! It takes approx. 10 days to credit your account with your payment, so mail chacks early! Also, be aware that new phones are very expensive and they do not offer rebates or incentives to current customers. 33 out of 64 people found this review helpful
