Great wireless provider!

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: Jesse Garza on Thursday, March 01, 2007
From: Rockwall, TX (United States)
Experience: 7 Months
Pros: don't have to keep track of minutes or text messages

Cons: somewhat expensive to "roam" outside of local area

Summary: I was a comitted Verizon wireless customer for years but I was tired of paying monthly overages. I travel 2 hours to and from work daily and tend to use my cell phone during my commute. I usually had to not call out on certain dates so I wouldn't run out of my daytime minutes. Several months back, one of my co-workers switched carriers to Metro PCS and raved about it. She even got a phone for her teenage daughter to use. I switched the next week and have not been disappointed. The signal is clear and I even have better signal strength in Rockwall than I did with Verizon (which is an outer suburb of Dallas) I love not having to worry if I'll run out of minutes or having to deal with bills that fluctuate monthly. In addition, I use 411 a lot and Metro PCS has a flat unlimited use plan for only $2 extra! This is a great service if you don't travel outside of your local market much.

Metero Is Improving

Overall Rating:
4 out of 5

From: deerfield beach, FL (United States)
Experience: 36 Days
Pros: Metro has a good selection of phones and plans that are affordable no matter what walk of life you are from. Unlimited local and long distance for a SET monthly fee.

Cons: Service is not available in many parts of Florida and the U.S. They are improving their range, but coverage is definitely limited.

Summary: This is the best plan for anyone who does not travel outside of the state often. For a cell phone text message warrior, Metro PCS cannot be beat.

Clean Signal - Robot Service - Cool Phones with Catches

Overall Rating:
2 out of 5
By: savio savio on Monday, January 01, 2007
From: fremont, CA (United States)
Experience: 4 Years
Pros: The signal is super strong in the areas that are covered on the coverage map. They've largely expanded over the past 3 years, and still are. They offer the latest styles in phones. They won't affect your credit record.

Cons: You will almost never get a hold of a human being. I think it's in Metro's business plan to purposefully not speak directly to the customer, unless he/she is signing up for the first time, therefore if you have a service issue, make sure you opt for sales dept no matter what. the phones they offer are trendy, but basic in function... limited is a better word. The coverage area is mainly in a metropolitan area, It's worthless when traveling to southern, CA. Doesn't help build your credit score.

Summary: I've been using this service since Metro's best phone was the Audiovox CDM8500. That was the KRAZR K1M (which I have now) 4 years ago. The phones are cool but they don't have full unleashed potential! I've had 4 different phones since I started using METRO. The insurance is ok, but your better off dropping it in a glass of water, and lying saying: you dropped it in the toilet, than to report it lost or stolen, in order to receive a replacement. MetroPCS's latest and greatest phone, the KRAZR is supposedly a media powerhouse, yet it couldn't play mp3's through a set of Sony Bluetooth headphones that I bought. The handsfree feature works, but once I queue up the music, it plays through the speakerphone. I might as well carry around a ghetto-blaster on my shoulder if I want to broadcast my music to the world. What this tells me is that MetroPCS told Motorola to disable the A2DP feature on the K1M. I've heard reviews of people with Verizon, TMobile, or Cingular raving about how sweet it is to listen to music off their KRAZR, but I've yet to make it a personal music player. If my credit didn't stink, and if I were willing enough to guard my minutes from another service, I would've dumped Metro long time ago.

Cheap price but many problems with ported numbers and cust service

Overall Rating:
1.3 out of 5
By: charles foulk on Wednesday, December 13, 2006
From: orlando, FL (United States)
Experience: 30 Days
Pros: cheap 1 monthly price and no contrcats

Cons: little to no customer service, system problems if trying to keep your old number

Summary: OK I changed to metro pcs nearly a month ago. I ported my cell# over from sprint. The pricing was attractive to me, $45 all you can eat with no contracts. However they have problems. Read on particularly if you are porting your old number over as these problems do not seem to happen if you get a new number form them.

The 2 main problems are not being able to call certain numbers. The system seems to want to treat certain U.S. numbers as international and asks for extra money to be put onto your account before they will allow you to call them.

Second if you port your number then want to try to text message anyone on a network OTHER than metro pcs you cant, your message never gets though, likewise for receiving any from a cell phone on another network.

Now a cheap phone plan usually comes with some limitations and with Metro PCS their limitation is in their customer service. Most of the time you cant even get a live person rather a recording telling you to try back later and to use their website.

If you do manage to get a human their knowledge and ability to help is often that of a 5 year old. All they seem to be able to do is “send a rest to your phone “ this seems to be their answer to anything from a billing question to a technical issue. If you tell them they have already done this before they then “issue a trouble ticket” Now these are magical touble tickets, as every one they have issued on my account mysteriously disappears without trace within 24 hours they issue a ticket and say it will be 72 hours to resolve the issue, when you call back after 72 hours they seem to have no record of a trouble ticket ever having been issued. This has happened 4 times so far and 3 times and 5 times respectively to my friends accounts so it isn’t just me.

So after a month I still cant text anyone but people on the pcs network and certain numbers I just cant call unless I want to pay international rates for a local call.

So Metro pcs. Cheap but you get what you pay for.

The Best Service Yet

Overall Rating:
4.3 out of 5
By: Marci Lewis on Tuesday, December 12, 2006
From: West Palm Beach, FL (United States)
Experience: 5 Years
Pros: Unlimited calls, same bills every month.

Cons: Difficult to get good reception in my house in Ibis

Summary: I have had Metro PCS for several years. Through out our terrible hurricane seasons of 2005 and 2004 my phone never failed me. I recommend this phone to everyone. At the end of the month there are no surprises. The bill is always the same. Unfortunately since I moved to West Palm Beach my phone does not have much reception in my home. It is true I am all the way west in the boonies but I do wish it would work as well as it did when I lived in Jupiter.

Hard to complain about these guys....

Overall Rating:
4.5 out of 5
By: J Belew on Wednesday, December 06, 2006
From: Atlanta, GA (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: Excellent rates with unlimited minutes included in every plan. I mean your getting non-stop talk 24/7 as cheap as thirty bucks a month dude! Numerous store locations (Atlanta area). Most importantly, there are no diabolical multi year contracts to torment you. Walk in, plop down the cash for the phone and walk out (1st month is still free).

Cons: The limited coverage area would make Metro PCS a bad choice for those who do a lot of traveling.

Summary: After suffering through three other cellular service providers with their multi year contracts, peak minutes, off minutes and silly calling networks I was fortunate enough to stumble onto Metro PCS. I’m baffled as to why someone who spends the majority of their time in the metro area would use any other carrier. This is painless.

Pros: It's nice that for my service I can make unlimited calls anytime of the day and anywhere in the USA, Customer Service

Cons: getting a signal and dropped calls.

Summary: I'm very happy with the service, and product, but wish that the signal I get would be much better than it is now, my calls drop on me and I miss quite a few calls because of this.

Loved my Metro, wish I could have it again

Overall Rating:
5 out of 5
By: Patricia Brashears on Tuesday, October 10, 2006
From: 6871 Barnwell Road, SC (United States)
Experience: 2 Years
Pros: always knowing what my monthly bill would be,never an overage fee, could talk to anyone using any type of phone without getting charged extra, no minutes to keep track of, being able to call family out of state, no contracts, low rates, no credit check

Cons: sometimes you would get a drop call but it still does not compare to all the pros of having a metro pcs phone

Summary: I'v moved to Barnwell County, South Carolina from Florida and I really wish Metro PCS was available here. I feel it would be a great success and I would love to purchase 3 more phones here in South Carolina.
