Net10 User Reviews
Pros: Bluetooth will transfer pictures to and from my computer, always just 10c per minute (including roaming), great coverage in my area Cons: No mp3 ringtones (if that bothers you) but other than that, none worth mentioning. Summary: I'm new to Net 10 so I went in "blind" as what to expect. I've been using Virgin Mobile for the past few years and was just getting tired of paying their high (per minute) rates. After using this LG600g few the past few months, I'll have to say that this phone along with this service (AT&T) is FANTASTIC.... Sometime the phone signals are a little spotty here in the mountains of east Tennessee but I have NEVER dropped a single call in my area (Tri-cities). Also, I like that I am able to use my Bluetooth enabled LG600g to transfer picture to and from my computer without having to email them, saving me tons of money. If you are in the market for a really great (basic) phone for not a lot of cash, you may want to check out this particular model. It has worked out well for me and my needs... GOOD LUCK !!! 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful
Pros: Cheapest around at 10 cents a minute and a minimum of $15 a month Cons: No frills phones - if you care about that. Summary: I looked around for a while before buying a Net10 phone. I was looking for both the lowest per minute rate AND the lowest monthly minimum as I wasn't going to be using the phone all that often. Net10 was far superior to other companies in that respect. To keep your number active you need to add 150 minutes ($15) per 30 day period, or more accurately, $30/60 days as the $15 top-up option doesn't appear to be available anymore. Same thing for all intents and purposes. Perhaps the best thing about this phone was the price. It cost me $29.99 at Target with 300 minutes included. That means the phone essentially cost nothing. Granted, it doesn't represent the pinnacle of phone technology, but it has an acceptable user interface, is small and does everything a phone should. If I decide in the future that I don't like the phone, I can use up the minutes and throw it in the trash with no financial loss. When I bought this phone, I was looking to activate it immediately. The clerk at Target led me to believe that I could make the activation call from the Net10 phone itself which turned out not to be true. No matter, I stopped at a gas station, called the activation line from a pay phone and made my first call about 10 minutes later. It couldn't have been simpler. I've heard horror stories from other reviewers about the customer service, but haven't had to deal with that. Frankly, before making a 2 hour phone call, I'd get a new phone and port the old number. As I said, the phones essentially cost nothing. Service and coverage are as others have said provided by ATT, which has been fine in my area. Call quality is par for a cell phone, and even international calls are handled well. Texting at 5 cents a message seems pretty reasonable as friend of mine who have plans but haven't paid for the unlimited texting option are being charged 50. Unless you talk on the phone enough to make a plan more economical or are looking for a phone that has web capabilities etc... you'd be remiss to not check out Net10. Adequate phones, low per minute and monthly rate and good quality. What more do you need? 6 out of 6 people found this review helpful
Pros: Cheap basic mobile service, NO lengthy, COSTLY contract with Excellent coverage. Cons: New sim card needed sometimes when transferring minutes Summary: Simple activation, easy to use phones. Can do it all online. No need for customer service. Do the activation at your leisure. It's very simple. You can activate a new phone or upgrade to a new phone at 3am if needed/wanted. Try that with AT&T, Alltel, Verizon, or any other high cost monthly service companies. Sure these wireless companies will GIVE you a discounted or free high-tech phone, but then they have you obligated to them for 2 or 3 years (24-36 months) at $50-100 per month. Want to cancel that contract? Sure can. Just shell out the cost of the phone for hundreds of dollars. My phone costs me less than $10 a month with more minutes than I need. Did I mention NO CONTRACT??? I can discontinue using it anytime I want with no penalty. Just use up the already paid for minutes and put up or give the phone to someone else that needs a reliable mobile phone. The Net10 phone service is the only way to go for personal use. Check out their website for purchasing new and refurbished phones. They are usually cheaper that purchasing from local stores. Sometimes bonus minute cards with purchases are available with certain model phones so your cost is way less than 10 cents per minute. A little wait, but delivery is usually fast. 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful Pros: cheap rates, phones getting better Cons: none so far Summary: I've been using net10 for almost 3 years now. I started with the generic motorola V171, went to the V176, then to the W375. I now have the LG 600G. All activated with no problems. I've never had a problem with customer service the 2 times I've had to call. The minor problems I had were handled quickly. Every service has problems, that's why they have customer support. You do need to keep in mind that this is a cheap basic phone service. The phones have had very little in the features department until the new LG 600. I've never ported a number or even kept one the 4 times I've upgraded. It isn't that hard to mention to a person you have a new number. Rates have always been $.10 a minute for a call and $0.05 for text messages. People who think otherwise are incompetent. A 5 minute call shows up as a 5.00 minute deduction. Multimedia messages are $.25 or a 2.50 minute deduction. Text messages are $.05 or a .50 minute deduction. Me, my wife, my son, my sister and my parents all use net10 without hassle. The truth of the matter is it's a phone guys. If you want the internet, go home and use a computer. Who cares what it sounds like when it rings ? If you want real value without selling your soul to a contract provider look no further. 10 out of 11 people found this review helpful Pros: Perhaps that I won't have to pay an outrageous cancellation fee unlike contract companies. Cons: Customer Service and Upgrades. Summary: POOR Customer Service, POOR quality phones-and a not so lovely lengthy waiting period if you dare attempt to upgrade. (Hopefully you have a back up phone!) I could hardly understand most representatives- English, I had to make myself VERY repetitive, they tried rushing me off the phone because they 'couldn't help resolve this issue', they stated they "Don't do any kinds of refunds, or returns", they stated they "Can't delete my account/and phone number", and last but not least-they told me they "CAN'T delete my credit card information". Hmmm...a little too fishy for my taste. Make sure you PRINT out any and all receipts of purchases, be it airtime cards, phones. minutes bundles from your phone itself-EVERYTHING! Unfortunately enough, I need a working phone NOW. Not in 48 hours, Not in 7-10 business days. Since they cannot help me, and won't remotely attempt at customer satisfaction in allowing refunds or returns-I'm disputing all charges with my bank to get my money back. I've already dumped a total of $180 into Net10. Worth it? Not by any means. For far less than that I would rather be bound into a 2 year contract. At least they are RELIABLE and have they act together! =[ Ultimately, yes-they were clever enough to rape me for my money. 4 out of 10 people found this review helpful Pros: Lowest cost time, great coverage. Cons: Poor phone selection. Summary: I drive truck, border to border, mountain range to mountain range, never been without sevice. Even deliveries to boondock locations had service. If you can't understand the service person, just ask for another person, or a supervisor. The SIM card must be set up in the area you live in. Don't buy one out of your service area, or buy one and send it to someone out of your service area without setting it up first in your area. Most of the problems I read in your comments started with the customer not understanding the rules. I started with Tracfone ( the parent company ) and switched over to Net10 for the lower cost. If you want a phone to be more than a phone go sign a two year contract with someone for 3 times the money. If you want a phone that works like a phone, get Net 10. 11 out of 11 people found this review helpful Pros: Cheap phone's, great value. Cons: I would like to have more coverage. I guess you could blam At&t for that. Summary: I love my little net10 phone. I have the unlimited minutes and text plan, best thing ever. It also has free 411 included. Great deal, I would go for it. 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful Pros: Cheap, good selections of phone (for pre-paid) Cons: Spotty Customer Service Summary: I had a phone for 3 years. I started having problems with it. I could receive calls but not dial out. I called Customer Service. They answered the phone quickly and were very nice but the Level 1 reps could not fix the problem. They had me enter code after code and was constantly putting me on hold for "3 minutes please". After 1.5 hours they transfered me to a supervisor. The supervisor could speak and understand English much better. He determined the phone was bad in 2 minutes and said they would send a new one. I got it 2 days later. (Very impressive). When I tried to activate the replacement the service date carried over but not the minutes. I called CS again. Same problem. They worked with me so long my home handset went dead and I had to call back and start over. It took 2.5 hours to get the problem solved by a supervisor who fixed the actual problem in less than a minute. Suggestion to NET10 - Pay more for better support reps. A knowledgable rep can turn a 2-hour phone call into a 5 minute call. You would save more money on your 1-877 number charges than you would pay in higher wages for better first level. 6 out of 6 people found this review helpful Pros: Low rate, excellent coverage in my area, better in EVERY WAY than AT&T GoPhone Cons: none so far. Summary: Bought a cheap phone at Target with 300 free minutes. Had it activated in less than 5 minutes. Decided to upgrade the phone...got a nicer phone also with 300 minutes. Called customer service. Transferred the 280 minutes from the old phone with no problems. Minutes were on my new phone while I was still on the phone with the lady. She spoke with an accent but perfectly good English..better than some people who are American born and live around here. Better than GoPhone...service time as well as minutes roll over...with AT&T it's just minutes. When you add minutes, your service time starts all over again. With AT&T, they charge for a minute whether the other party answers or not. Net 10 does NOT. I don't have unreasonable expectations that Net 10 is going to be like a full featured Sevice such as verizon. IT does what I need it to do flawlessly. If you want all the bells and whistles, sign a 2 year contract with the big guys. Don't complain if you get what you pay for with Net 10. 7 out of 7 people found this review helpful Pros: Great when it works - worked well calling within Washington & Idaho. Cons: Customer service Summary: The following is the response I got after I provided a detailed description of the problems I encountered attempting international calling: "Thank you for your interest in Net10 Wireless. We are responding to your recent inquiry. Net10 Wireless would like to take this opportunity to apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced with our service. Feedback from our customers is very important to us. We assure you that we will research this issue to prevent it from happening in the future. Should you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact one of our customer care representatives at 1-877-836-2368. For your convenience, our representatives are available Monday-Saturday from 8:00 AM to 9:45 PM EST, and on Sunday from 8:00 AM to 6:45 PM EST. To expedite your call, please have your Net10 and serial number available. Thank you for being a Net10 Wireless customer. We appreciate your business. Sincerely, Net10 Wireless" Most international calls required several attempts and chewed up minutes big time. The letter above tells me nicely to swallow the the chewed up time and to forget about help, let alone refunded minutes. I am not likely to buy more minutes when my card runs out. I'll chalk it up to experience - you get what you pay for and often you pay more for less. 2 out of 4 people found this review helpful
