Pros: None
Cons: Everything about this phone service
Summary: My husband and I use so few minutes on our cell phones I thought it would be good to get prepaid phones. After much research I went with Net10. While many reviewers said the customer service was horrible, I felt that we would not encounter that issue since we only wanted the most simple options.
Anyway, we got the phones and the one thing I wanted to do was to port our old phone #s. This became a nightmare. On the 1st day of phone service I was told in order to port our old phone #s, they (net10) would have to send me new phone cards. After waiting for a couple weeks I finally received the new phone cards from tracfone (which is the parent company), and after much time on the line with customer service, where the connection is bad and hard to understand very thick foreign accents, the phones were activated.
Well, 2 days later my husband's phone just breaks. It took three phone calls and another few weeks to get the replacement. I once again had to go through the process of porting his old phone # over. Net10 insisted that the phone # I was giving them was never associated with his original net10 phone, but after complaining they told me the port was complete. Well, that never happened. After being told 3X that the port was completed I started to lose my mind. I finally got someone on the phone who said that I needed a new SIM card for the phone in order to get the number ported. I asked, why did 3 other people tell my the port was complete if I needed a new SIM card? The response was, "I dont know." The other thing that really upset with this phone call was that they kept insisting that the phone # that I had been calling my husband with prior to his phone breaking never existed.
Okay, so now I have to wait for a new SIM card. Well, I never received it. I was told everytime I called that it would be 2-3 business days. On the 4th call it would be overnighted. And the crazy thing is everytime you call customer service you have to regive all of your personal info (name, address, etc) and if they transfer you to a different department, you have to restate your personal info again.
To make a really long review longer, I never received the SIM card. So I switched my phone service, and it doesn't end here.
I want to get the phone #s ported back to my new phone service and Net10 wouldn't process the request because my phone is no longer active. The response was that I had to buy at least 300 minutes ($30) to activate the phone. I protested asking to speak with the manager, and then his manager. Well, they finally hung up on me. In the end I activated the phone just to port my phone number. It hurt and infuriated me.
So I truly say to anyone looking to purchase a net10 phone, "Don't do it!!!"
You really get what you pay for.
Pros: 10 cents a minute
Good basic phones
Easy Minutes Plans - one is as low as $15.00 a month for 150 minutes. That's the best deal I could find.
Airtime info is on the phone at all times so you don't have to waste minutes looking that info up on your account like some prepaid carriers.
Good Phone coverage
Purchasing minutes is easy.
Cons: WEB (WAP) access is limited to Net10 data services only. You can't go anywhere else on the web.
Good deal only if you use less than 300 minutes a month
Summary: I was hesitant in going with Net10 because of all the negatives I have read about their customer service. However, I read a magazine site review that said Net10 spent a lot of effort in 2008 to upgrade an improve customer service and I have found their customer service to be good.
The first phone I purchase was a reconditioned phone from their website that came with 600 minutes. The phone however, did not work. It would not make calls. I spent 3 hours on the phone with 4 different service techs interring codes into the phone trying to get it to work. In the end they agreed to send me a replacement phone. They got the replacement phone to me within two business days. The service people were polite and tried their best to help me and they all spoke English well. The only small hiccup was that the replacement phone was a different flip than the one I ordered. I contacted Net10 and they offered to replace the phone with the correct model. However, I decided I liked the phone they sent me better than the first phone and decided to keep it.
My Net10 phone actually has better service in my office than my wife's T-Mobile phone.
I would only recommend a prepaid service if you don't use over 300 minutes a month or if you absolutely do not want to sign a two year contract. If you use more than 300 minutes a month than you would be better off with a contract plan that has unlimited nights and weekends
I went with Net10 so my two teens could reach me if they need me. I don't talk on the phone much so going with Net10 is cheaper than upgrading our T-Mobile plan to a Family plan and signing a new two year contract.
I primarily went with Net10 because they have and Easy Minute Monthly plan that has one plan that is as low as 150 minutes a month for $15.00. Once my initial minutes are used up I will start the $15.00 monthly plan which is the lowest deal I could find.

Pros: 10 cents a minute; 5 cents per text
Cons: Customer service that they should truly be ashamed of...
Summary: I was one of those people who did THOROUGH research before signing on with Net 10. I had researched other pre-paid providers and found them (financially) to be the best -- by far. I not only researched their website but also called them and made several trips to Walmart to speak with their pre-paid department there.
After much research, I finally signed up with Net10 in September 2007 and the amount of problems I have encountered have been simply STAGGERING! The level of horrid customer service became so bad that I would take notes (date, contact, details) when I would speak to them. Not only was the information on their website incorrect (at the time they were offering 150 min cards also) but even the zip code availability service (required to make sure they are able to offer you service) was incorrect.
It took MONTHS (no joking), 3-4 new SIM cards and many, many, many phone calls for any of it to finally work out -- and that was only after finding one person who TRULY cared about what they were doing.
I thank God for that one caring (and highly competent) individual. I ran across her by chance (after one of their Trac Phone corporate office customer service representatives voiced that the problems I had encountered were my own -- something about me being one customer amongst 11 million; nothing like laying the blame for service incompentencies on your customers...) and, but for her, would have quit Net 10 a long time ago.
When I call now, I have her handle all of my transactions. Sadly enough, first hand experience has proved to me (and those who walked with me through this; people trying to reach me and not being able to get through) how utterly lacking in good customer service Net 10 is.
All in all, 10 cents a minute may sound like a good deal but when the customer service is terrible... it is hardly worth it.
If I had to do it all again, I would not sign up with Net 10. Nor could I (in good conscience) recommend it to anyone.

Pros: Service is always available
Cons: Gets expensive, customer support folks don't speak English
Summary: I had a Nokia 1600. It's pretty basic, but it does the job. Net10 is very reliable in Oklahoma City. I did have to call customer service once when an airtime card didn't activate correctly. It did take a while, but I got my minutes and I had zero problems from then on. Just don't buy airtime after 10 PM!

Pros: Good if you don't use your cell phone a lot
Cons: Customer service people are useless
Summary: If you want to have homicidal instincts, just call their customer service. A continuous series of lies and incompetence.

Pros: There is no pros
Cons: They lied its not 5 cents a text its 50 cents or 30 cents
Summary: It states that text messages are 5 cents a text but im being charged 50 cents a text so I called and she explained to me it depends on the phone you have ...Some phones texts are 50 cents and others its 30 cents no where on the site or the box I got the phone in does it say that all it says is text are 5 cents so I am pissed about that I want to be charged 5 cents a text like it says one of the many reasons I bought the phone.
