TCI Total World 4.9

Overall Rating:
3.5 out of 5
By: Walter Koenig on Thursday, October 04, 2007
From: Lumberton, TX (United States)
Experience: 5 Months
Pros: No long distance charges for 5 months!!! YEA!!! Switched from AT&T because I got tired of paying a monthly fee for long distance that I hardly ever used.

Cons: Somehow in the switch the local toll did not get changed, but a couple of phone calls remedied that. Have not been reimbursed by TCI for the switch yet, though. TCI representatives are very difficult to understand, though...very heavy Spanish accent, and they seem to have a little bit of trouble understanding what you want.

Summary: So far very happy with the availability of long distance without a monthly fee. No major complaints, but I have not used the service much either.

Its a deal, but be willing to put up with the "hic-ups" of starting the service.

Overall Rating:
4.5 out of 5
By: Joseph Fuchs on Tuesday, September 25, 2007
From: Cahokia, IL (United States)
Experience: 90 Days
Pros: Once the service was initiated, its been good as of this date. Prices are great.

Cons: Initial start up was a train-wreck. They lost the paperwork, and I did not have any long distance service for several days. The past service had disconnected, yet the new service didn't. If you go for automatic payments, they fail to tell you that it will take a whole billing cycle before it kicks in and you may get a disconnection notice if you don't pay the first bill or the bill before auto pay kicks in.

Summary: In retrospect, it was worth changing from my old service to this one. Just be prepared for the company to make errors in the start up of the service. If you do establish the reoccurring automatic payments, it will not kick in until the next billing cycle.

Good at first, then got lousy

Overall Rating:
2 out of 5
By: M K Rodriguez on Friday, July 27, 2007
From: St. Joseph, MO (United States)
Experience: 4 Years
Pros: good rates

Cons: no call backs
no response to complaint calls or letters
sending bills late then charging late charges

Summary: I had no problems for about 4 years, then we started getting our bills late, I would pay them then I would start getting delinquint notices and shut off notices and charged late charges. I paid the bills when they arrived. I called customer service that stated on their bill they were open 24, 7, but got a recording they were closed. Left a message with my number but no call backs. Sent letters to corporate offices with proofs of payment, no response. I have just e-mailed them today with copies of all letters so we will see how that goes.

The Worst I have Ever Experienced (even over AT&T)

Overall Rating:
1 out of 5
By: Nicholas Sensley on Wednesday, July 04, 2007
From: Santa Rosa, CA (United States)
Experience: 10 Days
Pros: Customer service answered the phone

Cons: Pros: Failed to Connect Service
Did not return promised calls
Incompetent Customer Service
Did not connect service even after 10 days
Did not seem to care that I was disappointed.

Summary: Summary: I honestly wonder if this is a legitimate company. I signed up for this service through LowerMyBills (which I find a good service). I promptly received a reply to call TCI for voice verification. I did, apparently successfully. No service after 4 days, I called. Told it was a verification error "...yet, our code shows you did do it successfully. We'll have it repaired in 24 hours. Of course, not done. Next service agent un able to figure anything out. I asked for a supervisor. Same response as first time: "...up in 24 hours." Did not happen. Called a 3rd and finally a forth time and then cancelled the service. I seemed to frustrate the agent in wanting to receive the service they promised!

By: Larry Edwards on Wednesday, June 13, 2007
From: Exeland, WI (United States)
Experience: 60 Days
Pros: Easy, Secure, Convenient

Summary: I am so happy over this service. having a separate 800 number to reach an outside line is a great for security if you have someone in your home who has a potential to abuse long distance service. I am also happy over the costs and the availability to pay over the internet. Thanks.

Total Call Subscriptions

Overall Rating:
4.3 out of 5
By: Grant Vuille on Thursday, May 31, 2007
From: Woodbridge, VA (United States)
Experience: 55 Days
Pros: Much cheaper and more reasonable service for long-distance usage.

Cons: Took too long to set up, but so far, it seems okay, although a long distance call to a friend reveiled an alternate number on their caller ID instead of my number, so they didn't realize it was me calling...strange...

Summary: I've only had the service for a couple months and have just received my first bill recently which indicated to me that the service was going to be inexpensive and therefore much more reasonable and fair than my previous service MCI which charged a huge flat fee of $35 dollars for what amounts to only about 15 to 20 minutes on average of my usual monthly calls. If my continued monthly bills continue to be low and reasonable I think I will be very happy to have changed my service to Total Call.

Long Distance - Did you know?

Over 25 Million people use AT&T’s basic plan. They could save hundreds of dollars each year, if they switched. Are you still using AT&T, Sprint, or MCI?
