So sit back and enjoy your first look at our first look of the hottest new releases. Welcome Sydney to the PhoneDog team! Sydney gets her hands on the new LG Chocolate Touch for Verizon. Is the latest touchscreen music phone enough to compete in the age of smartphones? Let's unbox it and find out. Well, I'm not a big fan of the plastic panel on the front... or it is real brushed metal? Wait, no... it's plastic... right? I'm kinda wishing the entire casing was made of metal, but the phone feels pretty decent anyhow. Is it $229-on-contract decent? We'll see. I don't know how much I'll use the Cube UI, but the keyboard seems to be OK. Stay tuned to PhoneDog and DroidDog for more. I have to admit that I wasn't very excited about this phone. I had reviewed the European Hero and Sprint's CDMA version, and a proximity sensor - although nice - wasn't the bump in specs I was hoping for in this renamed Hero. But it is a slim, soft(!) device that I'm enjoyng more and more as I play with it. Trackballs are good.
BlackBerry Bold 9700 unboxing by Aaron Baker from PhoneDog.com. 624 MHz processor, trackpad, 3.2-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, and OS 5.0. Is it a worthy upgrade to its predecessor? Here she is; Sprint's vanilla Android alternative to the Hero. With a full hardware QWERTY, an 800 MHz processor, and a luscious AMOLED display, I'd say Moment is a good contender. I'll be passing this one along to Noah very soon so stay tuned to PhoneDog for his coverage. I just might have one turn up for review over at DroidDog as well, so be sure to check in. Android 2.0. Noah looks nothing like Maria Sharapova. Like Maria, SE's new Equinox is colorful and fashion forward. Noah, on the other hand ... It's better than the first Storm, that's all I can say for now Razzle dazzle, a phone full of snazzle. The Verizon Razzle from PCD has a unique swivel design with a QWERTY board on one side and speakers and music controls on the other side. Noah checks it out.
Sprint just launched the Intrepid, a Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone with EV-DO Rev. A and Global HSPA so you can get your 3G on all over the world. Noah checks out the touchscreen, the QWERTY, and the suave dude on the box. This is pretty cool. Samsung apparently reached out to Technivator to make a staged unboxing video for their new Omnia smartphone. And Technivator delivered. This is pretty sweet - even if I did just use the phrase "staged unboxing video" (what kind of world is this?). Nice work, Technivator. And tip o' the hat to you, Eric, if you were involved in this:
Nothing says Summer like Chocolate, right? I don't know about that, actually, but I'd take a Chocolate ice cream cone right about now (there's a mini heat wave here in the East Bay) ... At any rate, the UPS man showed up this morning with LG's new Chocolate 3 for Verizon and we've got pics here and a video on the way.
The new Chocolate eschews the slider thing in favor of a flip form factor, and features a click wheel and nice big... Apple has posted a handy dandy "Where to buy iPhone" guide to make it easier for you to fork over more of your cash to them. Sorry, I'm a little miffed that my MacBook broke again. What I meant to say is that they've got a guide to help you find your nearest Apple and/or AT&T store in case you want to buy an iPhone 3G. Speaking of which, it's been confirmed that the device will go on sale at 8AM this Friday, July 11 - both... While we wait for Noah to return from vacation in Montana to complete his highly anticipated LG Dare unboxing video, he was able to send us some still photos of the device. With no cell service available we hope these photos can tie his fans over for the next couple of days! Stay tuned...
While I wait for baited breath for Sprint to get some review units of the new Samsung Instinct and, you know, send me one, it seems that a Sprint employee got her hands on the company's new flagship feature phone and posted some unboxing photos over on Sprintusers.com. While the phone is set to go on sale on or before June 20, it seems that Sprint company stores have started receiving training units so their employees can learn all about... Hot off the UPS truck it's the HTC Touch, but in white, and running on Verizon. VZW launched the XV6900 at CTIA, and it's currently available only through the online store (should be in retail outlets April 30). So if you haven't had the chance to check one out yet, don't worry - we got ya covered.
Essentially the same device as the Touch that launched on Sprint last year, the XV900 is a slim touchscreen smartphone running... I've been obsessed with features, touch screens, and Internet and media player features on phones lately. So I was surprised when I opened up the Sony Ericsson W890i Walkman phone last night and immediately thought, "It's sexy as hell and makes phone calls. I don't care what else it does, I want it."
Clad in an 9.9mm thin metal body, the W890i actually does a few nifty things beyond mere voice calling. SE packed a 3.2mp... Just a little over a week after I first saw it at CTIA, Motorola sent a review loaner of their new Z9 slider for AT&T. The Z9 is a 3G slider that takes some styling cues from the RAZR2 series, and features Moto's Synergy OS along with a 2MP camera with flash, AT&T Video Share compatibility, GPS with Navigation services, and access to the carrier's Cellular Video streaming video service (not to be confused with the newly unveiled... Though the BlackBerry Pearl itself isn't anything new, the T-Mobile 8120 I just unpackaged is worthy of a "New! Just Lauched!" notice, as it brings a few features to the fold that are unavailable on any other Pearl. Most notably, the TMob version rocks WiFi for data access and UMA calling, aka "HotSpot@Home." T-Mobile's got a few HotSpot WiFi phones in its lineup right about now, and the Pearl works as well or better than any... Re: Verizon Motorola Droid - Unboxing and Hands-OnNoah! Make iDog!
